Glitch-kulich, 60\60 cm, wool/acryl, 2019
This piece celebrates Easter. I would not call myself a religious person but in my childhood and teenage years I was surrounded by people, for whom Christianity meant a lot. Kulich is a traditional Russian Easter cake, and when Easter is near, you can see kulichs everywhere - in shops, kiosks, public catering and in the ovens of cooks. I am always in awe before a kulich, so ascetic and richly adorned at the same time. This kind of contrast makes it perfect for my Glitch series. What a wonder. Happy Easter!
